Snapshotting Aperture
Aperture’s Project-based workflow is great. I like to keep my Projects (including masters managed or referenced) scaled to fit onto a DVD. I’ll even split larger Projects so that when I export them they can easily be backed up to disc. I try to take a snapshot of a Project when I know that I am done adding images to it. As a Project rarely takes more than a few months to fill up that means that I don’t usually have too many Projects that aren’t safely backed up to disc.
This is easy to do- just select your Project and choose File -> Export -> Export Project. Make sure that your referenced masters are online and that you’ve checked the “Consolidate images into exported project” checkbox.

Remember, safe computing means a sound backup strategy.
