Enfuse – Easy HDR Images
Recently I saw a link for Pangea software’s new imaging software Bracketeer. Bracketeer allows you to quickly and easily merge several images into a single HDR-like image. HDR (high dynamic range) images are really great – but not easy nor cheap to produce. You must have another piece of software to do the HDR render. Bracketeer doesn’t make a real HDR image, but what it makes is much more useful.
I encourage anyone curious about HDR to give Bracketeer a try- but if you are more adventurous you can try doing things from the command line. Bracketeer is based on the Enfuse binary from the PanoTools package.
You can find links for an OS X installer package on the wiki. From there on out, just run enfuse as follows:
enfuse -o /path/to/outfile /path/to/source1 /path/to/source2 /path/to/source3
For me the results have been much easier and generally nicer looking that doing an HDR merge with Photoshop CS3.
Now I can look at the other options for enfuse…
