Evernote Rocks
Posted on May 21st, 2008 in Mac
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a technophile. I love technology for technology’s sake. Cool gadgets are my thing. Applications are very definitely gadgets and the new Evernote beta is one of the coolest that I’ve seen in a while.
Why is it cool?
Let me give you 10 reasons…
- Cool Mac application with tags and smart saved searches
- Cool Web application that works and acts like the desktop app
- Synchronization between local client and Web client
- Email notes into the app (and sync them locally)
- IMAP access to your notebooks from anywhere
- iSight notes
- Server-side OCR for any image in any document you sync
- Webclip bookmark to send any web page into your Evernote notebook
- You can share your synched notebooks. I haven’t tried this yet, but am planning on doing so soon
- Did I mention that it is free?
It is very definitely a beta app and isn’t as full-featured as some of the other note taking applications (like Circus Ponies excellent Notebook) but its online features are what really make it hot. I love being able to email photos from my iPhone to my Flickr account and sending them into Evernote is probably even cooler.
