I recently bought the bullet (so to speak) and added some f/2.8 glass to my camera bag. Actually, the 70-200 f/2.8L IS is too big for my bag, but that’s not important here. What is important is that being able to shoot at a constant f/2.8 is weird. I’m used to having my max aperture get smaller as I zoom which means that it is tougher to keep that shutter speed fast enough to get the shot.

With the 70-200 f/2.8L IS (what a fun name to type) I’m really enjoying working the indoor shot without a flash and being at 200mm and f/2.8 is really cool since before I would have been at f/5.6 or so. That is a lot of difference in best shutter speed. Take into account the 40D’s higher ISO capability (no, it isn’t a 5DII…) and I’m looking forward to seeing what these shots look like in Aperture.

I’ll post some shots soonish…

BTW- the 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS is a truly amazing lens. Sharp is almost an understatement…
