35 second video clip from 7D set at 1080p30- raw size 168MB

Final Cut Pro 7.0.1 running on 10.6.2 Mac Pro 2x3GHz Dual core 6GB RAM. Video on non-boot 1.5TB SATA HD.

Cross dissolve cannot be done in realtime renderer.

Compressor converted to ProRes 422 (HQ) size 814MB. Final Cut Pro can easily do realtime render of cross dissolve.

Video quality indistinguishable to my eyes.

With that in mind we went out to find a puppy. We found some great looking puppies using PetFinder and spoke with someone at a local no-kill shelter and they confirmed that they would have some puppies at our local Petco.

All fine so far…

Then we got to Petco and walked past all of the shelter’s adult dogs. Hera was an adult when we adopted her and we’d actually be out looking for a puppy. I think we were both determined to actually come home with a puppy this time.

We hadn’t counted on meeting Domino.

So, we’d decided to take Domino home, but what about our plans for a puppy? Well, how could we not bring this one home?

So, yes we now have 3 black and white dogs.

What a hike!

3.5 miles each way through sand dunes and across slickrock in 100+ degree heat. The return trip had no shade and was a very dehydrating experience.

Worth it, though.
